Amanda and Clive Owen reunite for new TV show after fame wrecked marriage

Two years after the Our Yorkshire Farm stars Amanda and Clive Owen split, they are reuniting for a new TV show Our Farm Next Door: Amanda, Clive and Kids.

As they make their comeback, the exes admit it was fame - and inevitably Our Yorkshire Farm - that was the downfall of their 22-year marriage. They became well-loved reality stars on the set of their fly-on-the-wall series Our Yorkshire Farm, with their nine children - Raven, Reuben, Miles, Edith, Violet, Sidney, Annas, Clementine and Nancy.

Despite their amicable split, the Owens may not be getting back together romantically but they have been filming a new show about restoring a farmhouse - known locally as Anty John’s - in a remote location as a whole family.

Since their marriage broke down and Our Yorkshire Farm wrapped, their son Reuben landed his own breakout series Life In The Dales with Channel 5. It put the spotlight on the young farmer and he invited the cameras into his life when he went abroad to France for the first time with his then-girlfriend Sarah. Their relationship too broke down following filming.

As the Owens return to the spotlight as a family, we take a look at what the couple have said about their new upcoming TV show Our Farm Next Door: Amanda, Clive and Kids as well as the breakdown of their marriage.

Our Farm Next Door: Amanda, Clive and Kids

Cameras have returned to the Yorkshire Dales for a new ob-doc series following the Yorkshire Shepherdess and her family, including her ex-husband. In the hotly-anticipated series, they get to work on renovating the neighbouring property to their farm. The story will feature as 10 exciting episodes and will come to our screens on More4.

All of the Owens - The Yorkshire Shepherdess Amanda, Clive and their nine children - team up with a team of local tradespeople to renovate the property. They face many challenges along the way including the change in season while restoring the listed property. The series will also delve into the history of the remote farmhouse, its former owners and local history.

Amanda said: "It is fantastic More4 have given us the opportunity to showcase what we do best, working as a team and battling the elements whilst trying to reinstate the farm next door to its former glory. It is no exaggeration to say that filming outdoors on an exposed hill end in Swaledale was at times a huge challenge for the Wise Owl film crew, but their dedication and enthusiasm has never waned. This new project has been a huge undertaking for the whole family and one we are excited to be able to share with the viewers at home."

Fame ruined Amanda and Clive Owen's marriage

Back in 2011, the Owens' farm first featured on TV on ITV’s The Dales. It sparked a chain of events that would eventually lead to the end of the couple's 22-year marriage. First, Amanda was putting pen to paper writing books and giving talks about the farm. Then, the whole family become the stars of their very own reality series Our Yorkshire Farm which featured on Channel 5.

Reflecting on the breakdown of their marriage and their steady climb to fame, Amanda said every talk started with her saying Clive was taking care of their brood while she was there and that it didn't matter to them who changed the nappies or 'who sheared the sheep'.

"But truthfully, it did matter to Clive," she wrote in a new column for The Daily Mail. Amanda said it was "hard" for her husband that talking about farming paid more than doing it. "Clive never liked me being away from the farm, and that led to ­arguments. I would return home not knowing what to expect or what his reaction would be. I’d feel the tension in the air and await the explosion."

Behind the scenes, Amanda said she tried to "overcompensate" every time she found Clive was pushing her away. By Clive's own admission, he was "jealous" and even "resented" his wife for her soaring success with her career.

During the Covid pandemic in 2020, they began spending more time apart from each other and found it was working better for them. The Owens decided to split and lived in two different homes within walking distance of each other, allowing the children to spend time where-ever they preferred.

Amanda embarked on a new romantic relationship with Rob Davies, a long-time friend of both her and her estranged husband. The shepherdess said the media "shattered" the romantic relationship and now they are no longer in touch.

It was Amanda and Owen who chose to end Our Yorkshire Farm because of their split, meaning the Channel 5 show was never axed. After the breakdown of their marriage, they felt their farm was "under siege" from the media as reporters would turn up knocking on their doors and leaving messages.

They both see each other as "survivors" and great parents. Now, after everything, they have reunited for their new TV show, although they are not romantically together. Clive wrote for the newspaper: "It’s been tough going through all of this in the public eye, and who knows what the next ­chapter will hold. But that’s the beauty of life."
