Bristol Motor Speedway in Tennessee will play host to a regular-season game between the Atlanta Braves and the Cincinnati Reds on Aug. 2, 2025, MLB announced Friday.

It will be the first regular-season game played in the state of Tennessee in National League/American League history.

The MLB Speedway Classic will be the latest edition of MLB taking the sport to unique venues, which since 2016 has included hosting games at North Carolina's Fort Bragg, at the Men's College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska, at the Field of Dreams in Iowa, at the Little League Classic in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, and at Rickwood Field in Birmingham, Alabama.

Bristol Motor Speedway features a capacity of nearly 150,000 and has hosted two NASCAR Cup Series races annually since 1961.

“Major League Baseball is excited to deliver a special game at Bristol Motor Speedway, a unique setting that sports fans will remember forever," MLB commissioner Rob Manfred said in a statement announcing the event. "The Reds and the Braves form an ideal matchup because of their dynamic talent and the proximity of their markets. We look forward to celebrating our game with a wide array of fans, both on and off the field throughout the weekend, and highlighting the rich traditions of sports, music and community in Tennessee and across the region.”

According to MLB, a baseball diamond will be built across the track and infield. The teams will play in Cincinnati on Thursday, July 31, and Friday, Aug. 1, before heading to Tennessee for the game Saturday. Sunday will be an open date for both teams and a potential makeup day should there be bad weather.

The Braves-Reds game will not be the first non-racing sporting event to take place at the track. In 2016, a college football game between Tennessee and Virginia Tech took place in the infield. A crowd of 156,990, the largest ever to watch an NCAA game, was in attendance.
