Back-to-school eats: Restaurants offer deals in Palm Beach County, from pizza to pancakes
Saying goodbye to summer break is never easy for a school-age kid. As Palm Beach County public school students prepare to return to class Thursday, some local restaurants have rolled out deals to help ease the back-to-school rush.
Brick & Barrel
Abacoa chef/restaurateur and father of two David Schroeder hopes to ease the back-to-school scaries with a never-ending stack of pancakes.
Schroeder’s Brick & Barrel restaurant hosted its annual Back to School Kids Brunch Saturday, Aug. 5. The family-friendly brunch was so successful, Schroeder plans to bring it back Sept. 2 and every Saturday during that month.
The Saturday family brunch goes from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The fun stuff: bottomless pancakes and a toppings bar ($12), face-painting, sidewalk drawing with chalk, kid-favorite tunes played by a DJ. With each order of bottomless pancakes, kids get one order of potatoes and bacon.
For the grown-ups, there are bottomless mimosas and Old Fashioned cocktails for $20.
“It’s just an excuse for me to take my kids to brunch,” says Schroeder, dad to sons David, 7, and Luke, 4.
Schroeder and his wife Lisa thought of the brunch idea as a way to get the neighborhood families together.
Brunch reservations are strongly suggested and can be made via OpenTable.com.
Brick & Barrel is at 1153 Town Center Dr., Suite 101, in Abacoa, Jupiter, 561-623-0916.
