Bloodhound Can't Contain His 'Happy Hops' When He Hears Neighbor BFF Come Home

Even if you don't have a dog yourself, you probably know that one of the best parts of pet ownership is being greeted when you get home. Dogs all have their own ways of welcoming their favorite people, whether it's with a thumping tail wag or an operatic howl. For one Bloodhound, though, he expresses excitement through his legs!

Big Red, whose iconic full name is Clifford the Big Red Dog, couldn't contain his elation when he heard his neighbor BFF Boomer coming home. He would've busted through the fence like the Kool-Aid man if he could've, but jumping for joy had to suffice! Luckily, his loving mama was right there to catch the silly moment on film. It's not surprising to anyone that the August 10 video is going viral!

Aww--now this is one happy dog! Big Red looks like he's waiting for the fence to open like a portal, but it's unclear whether he actually got to reunite with his bestie when they arrived home. Plenty of commenters requested a video of them playing together, but so far, the hound dog mom has kept us waiting.

Luckily, this adorable reaction video can tide over this Bloodhound's biggest fans for now. Everyone is so entertained by his surprisingly graceful jumps! The 'happy hops,' as one viewer called them, are a staple in some dogs' households, but this was the first time @hound_mommy was able to capture the silliness on film. I bet she's glad she did!

Other commenters, like @nauticalgirl72, can see a bit of themselves in this energetic dog. She admitted, "When you stop moving, but your skin keeps going...I feel ya!" LOL! This is something we're all bound to experience as we age, but as Big Red proved, wrinkles shouldn't stop anyone from living in the moment and expressing their joy.

Bloodhounds: Family Dogs With a Nose for Exploring

In case you couldn't tell, Big Red's human is extremely proud of being a hound dog owner. And why wouldn't she be? Breeds like Bloodhounds and Basset Hounds are some of the most docile and inquisitive dogs you'll ever meet, which is why they make great pets for individuals, couples, and even families.

Hound breeds are famous for their strong sense of smell, and they're often employed by police and detective departments to help find missing people or evidence. These dogs will love having jobs that involve using their nose, though they'll also need to exercise their short, stubby legs. When these needs are met, however, you'll have one friendly dog on your hands--just ask Big Red's mama!
