Dogs are known for them *ahem* voracious appetites. And that's putting it lightly. Some dogs will eat anything that's not nailed down to the floor. But an extra-large stomach has gotten a Cane Corso in Los Angeles, California in big trouble. Brooklyn recently had surgery after her vets saw some strange things had made their way into the dog's tummy.

Brooklyn's taste in food is...interesting. Many dogs like to feast on pizza crusts and food scraps. But Brooklyn's idea of fine dining is slightly different.

The Cane Coro's unusual palate first came to light after vets at the Ventura County Animal Services noticed she looked emaciated, NBC Los Angeles reports. But the problem wasn't that the dog wasn't eating. Nope. An X-ray showed that Brooklyn had been eating all sorts of things; eight socks, several rocks, and even a toy.

It was a perplexing case, even by dog standards.

“Although it's unclear why she consumed these items, we are excited to share the 3-hour surgery to remove these items went well,” Ventura County Animal Services told the news outlet. “While under anesthesia Brooklyn also had an ulcer repaired and was spayed.”

The surgery was a success. The dog has even been gaining weight since getting the objects removed. "In just a few days, Brooklyn gained nearly four (4) pounds…or six (6) pounds if you don’t include the two (2) pounds of foreign objects removed from her stomach!" Ventura County Animal Services explained on their Facebook page.

She has since been transferred over to the West Coast Cane Corso Rescue in Northern California "for continued care, recovery, and eventual adoption," Animal Services continued.

People online were grateful to the organization for saving Brooklyn's life. "Poor baby. Thank you for giving this baby a second chance for a healthy life," one person commented. "She’s beautiful. My Pit does the same thing, whoever adopts this sweetheart please remind them. He eats everything in sight and it’s so dangerous. She’s beautiful. Whoever gets her is lucky," wrote one person. "Poor thing. She must have suffered for a while to be that thin," someone else added. "Poor sweetheart. I hope and pray her life will change and there'll be only good food and yummy treats for him from now on," chimed in someone else.

Ventura Animal Services shared that they were proud of the work they've done. "Our county municipal shelter is dedicated to ensuring every animal receives the love, care, and attention they need," they wrote. "This is what lifesaving looks like! Thank you to all who support our mission."
