Celebrity Gladiators was like being 'hit by a bus of muscly women', says Ellie Taylor

TV star Ellie Taylor has admitted that participating in Celebrity Gladiators was “hard,” but “really fun”. The Strictly Come Dancing star appeared on Loose Women on Tuesday, 27 August, the day after Ted Lasso season 4 rumours began to emerge and was quizzed by the panel about taking part in the celebrity version of the hit BBC One show.

"I mean, the day after, I felt like I’d been hit by a bus made of muscly women," Taylor quipped. “It was so intense and so much fun and, you know, I did get to have a go at the travelator”. Speaking to Taylor on Loose Women, one panellist said that they’d “love to do it, just not on the telly".

After being dubbed a “powerhouse” for her appearance on Celebrity Gladiators, former Strictly star Taylor joked that a lot of her time on the competition show consisted of being “beaten up by ex-rugby players.”

But that didn’t stop Taylor from engaging in much-needed family time, as she told the panel that she was also able to bring along her five-year-old daughter, Valentina.

Celebrity Gladiators line-up in full

During her appearance on Loose Women, Taylor also announced her tour. The comedy roadshow, entitled Ellie Taylor: Palarvering, is set to take place at various UK venues between April and May 2025.

Taylor will be joined on Celebrity Gladiators by Joel Dommett, Louise Minchin, and Rob Beckett. This will be the first celebrity edition of the series since the show was triumphantly rebooted for a new generation.

Originally airing in the 1990’s, the show pits two men and two women against a range of ‘gladiators’ in a knockout competition format. These gladiators are trained, professional athletes whose objective is to stop the contestants from winning.

The reboot edition of the show features father and son duo Bradley and Barney Walsh on presenting duties.

Gladiators will return to BBC One in 2025.
