If you're looking for something to brighten up your morning, this video of ducks excitingly eating pumpkin "bowls" full of peas is it! Cheese and Quackers shared the video on Wednesday, September 25th and it's downright adorable. You'll want to make sure that your sound is on because their frantic little quacks are the cutest thing you'll hear (and see!) today!

The video starts with the ducks already checking out the pumpkins. Then one of their humans takes the lids off of the mini gourds which are filled with peas and water. The ducks go crazy for them! Mom even said in her caption that there was "almost too much excited squeaking" and that they devoured them at lightening speed.

I could watch these cute ducks all day! They were enjoying every second of their pumpkin and pea treat, and the whole thing made me smile. In fact, I watched it twice!

Commenters also loved Cheese and Quackers adorable video. @RISE & ROOST Homestead said what I was thinking, "I just love the little chomps!" and another commenter added, "Well there goes the rest of my night, I'll be watching the ducks!" @Tiffany wondered what many others were, "How come they don’t fight over the food/peck each other? I have Muscovies and all 6 are siblings but they peck each other constantly!

Cool Facts About Ducks

I've learned a lot about ducks since I started writing about pets and other animals here at Pet Helpful, and some of the facts are pretty cool. Take this one for example: did you know that ducklings start communicating with each other while they are still in their eggs, and all communicate to hatch at the same time?

Misfit Animals blew my mind with this fact, "Not all ducks quack. Only female ducks quack, while male ducks make other sounds, often referred to as a raspy whistle." What?! I thought that all ducks quacked! And their quacks echo; the sound they make fades in and out, so it's hard to tell the first quack from the echos.

Oftentimes, ducks can be caught sleeping with one eye open. This helps them keep an eye out for predators. Ducks have extremely good vision and can see farther than humans can. Interestingly, their eyes can also move independently of each other - they can literally see two different things at once.

We lived in Indiana for a few years and had a pond in our backyard. As spring got closer and the sun melted away the winter snow, ducks would show up to swim in the ice-filled pond. That's when I learned that ducks don't mind the cold, ice, or snow. They have no nerves or blood vessels in their feet which helps them to prevent heat loss. They literally cannot feel the cold! Who knew that ducks were so fascinating!
