Has Emily in Paris been renewed for season 5?

The second half of Emily in Paris season 4 is out now on Netflix, and with the shocking events of the finale viewers are now wondering if there'll be more to come.

Lily Collins' Emily Cooper went on an adventure to Rome in the season where she met a new love interest, Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini), and began a blossoming romance. The character had more than love in store for her though as the finale came to a dramatic conclusion that'll have huge consequences for a future season.

Emily in Paris is a Netflix darling and it has already stormed the charts after just one day, so it is not difficult for fans to believe that the show could be renewed. Here is what we know so far, but be warned this article contains spoilers.

Has Emily in Paris been renewed for season 5?

Season 4 ended with Emily decided to stay in Rome after Sylvie (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu) decides to make Emily the head of Agence Grateau's new office in the Italian capital. If that's the case then the show may well be retitled Emily in Rome, since her romance with Marcello might be a good thing.

Marcello's family business is also working with the agency for the next six months, which suggests that Emily will have some time in Rome before she has to leave — that is, if she leaves at all.

So will viewers be left on this cliffhanger forever? The answer is yes. Netflix has officially confirmed the show has been renewed for a new season. The streaming service released new images of Collins drinking from a coffee cup, which had the number 5 on the bottom and wrote: "There's no place like Rome. Emily in Paris is coming back for SEASON 5!"

Show creator Darren Star already has plans for what's to come, as he told The Hollywood Reporter: "We’ll spend some time in Rome. But she did not change her Instagram handle to Emily in Rome... They can be in more than one city, and Emily can spend time in Rome. She can spend time in Paris, too. She’s not leaving Paris."

Speaking to Yahoo Canada, Collins explained how she is keen for Emily to continue to grow in a future season should the show get renewed: "What I've tried to do more of is encourage a vulnerability in her character and have her understand that you can't have it all, all the time, or have it all figured out. And sometimes you just need to breathe and put your phone down."

In May 2024 it was also reported by Variety that a walk-on role in a potential fifth season was auctioned at amfAR Gala at the Cannes Film Festival, the winner is said to have paid €250,000 for the cameo and it was reported that a fifth season would begin shooting in mid 2025.
