Craig Doyle was tearful as Hollywood star Jeff Goldblum quizzed his son in what viewers called a "bonkers" interview on This Morning.

Goldblum was on the sofa on Thursday (29 August) to talk about his new show KAOS, but veered off topic several times, asking Doyle and his co-presenter Sian Welby questions about themselves and their lives and occasionally bursting into song.

At one point he started chatting to Doyle's 22-year-old son Quinn, who was behind the scenes. He called him a "great man" and commented on his bond with his father, which left Doyle confessing that he felt "weepy" and leaving his seat to go and throw his arms around his son.

In the heartwarming moment, Doyle thanked Goldblum and told him how much he'd enjoyed having him on the show. He made the emotional confession: "I feel a bit weepy over the whole Quinn situation - quite emotional."

It all started when Goldblum was saying how happy he was to be on the ITV show and he turned to Welby and asked: "You have met his son Quinn? What a great man that is, young man."

Looking emotional, Doyle chimed in: "Honestly he is the nicest human being, there is no point in meeting any other human beings after meeting Quinn."

"He is in his fourth year (of university) he was telling me," Goldblum went on. "He is studying history, he's making his dissertation on Irish history. What a great... and the two of you are great together, I know you've just had this week together but what a great dad you are. I saw you together... very moving to meet the both of you really."

Goldblum then asked father-of-four Doyle if he had met Welby's new daughter, who she welcomed in June. "Have you met Ruby?" he asked. "I'd love to meet Ruby," he said, going on to sing songs that mentioned the name as the hosts laughed.

Talk later turned to speaking different languages and Goldblum again brought Quinn into the conversation, as he stood off set, blushing.

"We are mortifying you at the moment Quinn!" Doyle said. Goldblum probed Quinn about whether he spoke any languages, asking the question in a couple of different languages. "Parlez-vous francais?" he asked, as Welby exclaimed: "Poor Quinn!"

The Jurassic Park star returned to singing as the hosts giggled, and Doyle laughed: "Poor Quinn, this is his worst nightmare!" "I am going to have to hug you!" he said, as he got off the sofa to go and check on his son.

"First day in the studio and he has met Jeff Goldblum, he has been embarrassed by dad!" said Welby, as Doyle and Quinn cuddled. It all ended with Doyle feeling very emotional and tearful when he returned to the sofa.

Viewers were tickled by the unusual interview, posting messages on X saying how hilarious it was.

"Truly the nuttiest interview ever," said one person. "Not sure that was a coherent line of questioning to Jeff Goldblum on This Morning but hey at least everyone has having fun."

"Bonkers," said someone else, as another viewer agreed that the star "always brings the chaos", adding: "in such a lovely natural way".

"Jeff Goldblum on This Morning is possibly the best thing ever," said another. "He must be an interviewers dream. He's warm, intelligent and engaging. Imagine being stuck in an elevator with him. I now have the biggest smile on my face."

"Don't care what it costs ITV but Jeff Goldblum needs to be on all the time, or at least the holidays," said somebody else.
