Gadsden area football rankings: How did last week's clashes shake up the standings

Here are the all-class power rankings ahead of Week 5 of the high school football season in the Gadsden area. All 27 teams, regardless of class, in the Gadsden Times coverage zone are eligible to be ranked.

1. Cherokee County (6-0)

The Warriors have been rolling and nothing seems to slow them down. Last Week: No. 1, 56-10 win over Munford; This week: Idle

2. Southside (5-1)

Even without Gauge Nesmith the Panthers keep rolling through their schedule but the schedule is about to get a lot tougher. Last Week: No. 7, 48-45 OT win over Boaz; This week: Home vs. Leeds

3. Sardis (4-1)

BJ Brooks has this team rolling through the schedule but the next few weeks will prove to be the major test to see how far he's taken this team in Year One. Last week: No. 8, 21-14 over Brewer; This week: Home vs. Douglas

4. Gadsden City (3-3)

Gadsden City is a team that can dominate their region but haven't shown the ability to beat the upper class teams in 6A or 7A yet this year. Last Week: No. 2, 32-3 loss to Hillcrest; This week: Home vs. Hazel Green

5. Fyffe (4-1)

Logan Anderson returned to form with 245-yards and four-touchdowns and that's great news for Fyffe. Last Week: No. 3, 49-14 win over Plainview; This week: Road vs. Collinsville

6. Jacksonville (5-1)

Jacksonville keeps rolling through the schedule behind quarterback Jim Ogle. Last Week: No. 5, 51-6 win over Ohatchee; This week: Home vs. Cleburne County

7. Geraldine (4-1)

Geraldine received an extra weeks rest after falling to Sylvania. Last week: No. 9, Idle This week: Road at Ohatchee

8. Coosa Christian (0-5)

Coosa Christian was hit by forfeits by the AHSAA, so on the field they are 4-1 but at least right now they are 0-5. Last Week: No. 4, Idle; This week: Idle

9. Pisgah (5-0)

Pisgah handed Sylvania its first loss in thrilling fashion and showed that they can play with the top dogs. Last week: 10, 40-34 win over Sylvania This week: Road vs. Whitesburg Christian

10. Sylvania (4-1)

Sylvania suffered its first loss of the season but as a non-region loss it shouldn't affect its goals. Last Week: 6, 40-37 loss to Pisgah This week: Road vs. Glencoe
