Hurricane Idalia Georgia path, live tracker: Map shows Category 3 storm approaching Savannah

Hurricane Idalia has eased to a Category 3 storm as it made landfall in Florida Wednesday morning and is approaching Georgia.

A hurricane warning has been issued for the east coast of the United States from Georgia to South Carolina, according to the latest advisory from the National Hurricane Center.

Idalia is set to bring heavy rain and strong winds to south and coastal Georgia, including the Savannah area.

Gov. Brian Kemp declared a state of emergency Tuesday that is set to expire at 11:59 p.m. Friday.
