The Route 79-Davol Street Corridor project is well on its way, creating an urban boulevard along the Taunton and opening approximately 19 acres of developable land, and the Fall River Redevelopment Authority is set to map out a master plan for its future.

Fall River has a new outdoor Fitness Court — and it's free to use

A new outdoor fitness area with equipment that’s free to use will officially open in Fall River's Britland Park on Tuesday.

It’s sponsored by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts and the National Fitness Campaign, an organization aimed at building similar courts in parks across the country.

The Fitness Court at Britland Park at 73 Wordell St., Fall River will be free to use. It opens officially on Aug. 8.

President Ave, New Boston Road closures hurt businesses

Two major east-west streets in Fall River's North End, President Avenue and New Boston Road, have been disrupted for months due to water main replacements and road resurfacing.

The streets are a quarter-mile apart and run parallel, and while business owners are glad of the improvements, they are also frustrated with the impact that all of the work has had on their businesses.

Both roads are being worked on at the same time.
