Eve Hewson says previous ‘bad experience’ on film set made her consider quitting

Eve Hewson says she considered quitting acting following a “bad experience” on the set of a film she has not named.

The 33-year-old Irish actress explained that she still has a “love-hate relationship” with the job, which she felt “most actors” had.

She told the Radio Times: “I had a bad experience on a film and I thought, what’s the point of this?

“I don’t want to put myself in a position where I’m being constantly treated like shit.

“I think most actors have moments like that. It’s a love-hate relationship with the job.”

She did not reveal the title of the film project.

The actress is the daughter of U2 frontman Bono, and has starred in Netflix supernatural thriller series Behind Her Eyes and the Apple TV+ dark comedy Bad Sisters.

Hewson said her father had given her “wonderful” advice on dealing with fame during her career.

She added: “I’ve gotten so much advice my whole life, it’s been wonderful.

“Someone once said to me that no matter who you are, if you get mega-famous, you’re going to be very weird for about seven years.

“You’ll start to think everything you do is important, and it’s something you have to watch out for.”

But the Dublin-born actress said she had not “really hit that kind of stardom yet”.

Hewson went on to say that she became “so giddy” when her co-star in the upcoming series, Nicole Kidman, arrived on set for the Netflix mystery drama The Perfect Couple.

She said: “It was incredible. I had no idea she was even part of the show.

“My agents kept talking about this Nicole person, and I was like, Nicole who?

“When she came on to set, we all got so giddy.

“It’s amazing to watch someone like that work. She’s been doing it for so long, but she’s constantly pushing herself.”

Hewson added that she did not find it daunting to work with the Oscar-winning The Hours actress and said the cast “had such a good time dressing up and being awful”.

The upcoming series, about a body being found on a beach, also stars Ray Donovan actor Liev Schreiber, and The Watchers actress Dakota Fanning.
