Can you really fall in love with someone without ever actually seeing them in real life? It’s a question that the new Netflix series Love is Blind UK aims to answer once and for all.

While most modern dating shows usually involve sunshine escapes, gossip, bathing suits and in the case of Naked Attraction, nothing at all — this new concept strips everything back to basics to discover if humans can find real connections based purely on emotional symmetry.

If the process is a success, the show’s lucky-in-love couples will take their relationships all the way, ultimately walking down the aisle at their very own wedding. If it doesn’t workout… well, it’ll surely make for entertaining telly.

Intrigued? Here’s everything you need to know about Love is Blind UK before its Netflix debut.

Love is Blind hits Netflix in August with batches of episodes landing on the streamer throughout the month.

The first four instalments will arrive on Wednesday 7 August, with four more episodes dropping on Wednesday 14 August and the final two shows becoming available from Wednesday 21 August.

Love is Blind is based on the popular American reality show of the same name which has run for six seasons and follows the same general concept. The UK’s edition will take its contestants to a range of different locations, with the series visiting the UK, Sweden and Corfu during its shoot.

Relationship sparks blossom between the doors of a train toilet in the first teaser trailer for Love is Blind UK, as one dating-app-sick singleton finds an unexpected connection with a ticket inspector.

Can the same situation play out in real life? That’s what Love is Blind UK is hoping to find out.

Watch the show’s first teaser below:

Love is Blind UK will be hosted by married hosting duo Emma and Matt Willis.

The former will be familiar to audiences from her time hosting shows like Big Brother, its sibling series Big Brother’s Bit On The Side and The Voice UK. Meanwhile, her hubby Matt is best known as the bassist and co-vocalist of the pop band Busted.

In addition to playing in the band, Matt has also appeared on shows like I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here and EastEnders.

Love is Blind UK will put new relationships to the test by inviting singletons to forge meaningful relationships based on nothing more than emotional connections.

Hopefuls will be invited to connect with someone who they will ultimately marry, despite the fact they've never actually seen them in real life until their fates have been sealed. From there, raw chemistry takes the reigns, for better or for worse.

“Over several weeks, the newly engaged couples will move in together, plan their wedding and find out if their physical connection matches their strong emotional bond developed in the Pods,” explains Netflix of the show's concept.

“When their wedding day arrives, will real-world realities and external factors push them apart, or will they marry the person they fell blindly in love with? Hosted by Matt and Emma Willis, this series will uncover whether looks, race or age do matter, or if love really is blind.”

Love is Blind UK starts on Wednesday 7 August on Netflix.
