June 6th was a big day in the city of Carmel in northern California when they honored a famous French Bulldog with the first ever 'Bone to the City'. Walter Geoffrey is well known for being very vocal and always ready to have a dramatic meltdown when things don't go his way. He's TikTok famous and one of Carmel's favorite pooches.

Dave Potter, the Mayor of Carmel, did the honors and presented the bone to Walter in front of a small crowd outside of City Hall. Walter doesn't seem to be paying much attention, but his mom is, and she looks very excited about the award. Watch until the end to see Walter's reaction (the one we all expected) and to read the proclamation about why Walter deserves the honor.

Walter totally deserves this honor! Walter's mom said in her caption that Carmel is the #1 most dog-friendly city in the U.S. and while I'm not sure that that's true, they sure welcomed Walter with open arms!

People left more than 800 comments, and of course, many of them were about how quiet Walter was the ordeal. @KR said, "Quietest I’ve seen Walter LOL! Love Walter!!" Curlygirlv laughed, "Suddenly the cat had Walter’s tongue!" and @yarn dynasty added, "Congratulations Walter… He was soaking it up, playing shy, and not a word of disapproval!" Another commenter pointed out, "I’m surprised Walter didn’t have a speech prepared...he just gave you his thoughts beforehand."

Dog Friendly Cities in the U.S.

There are some major cities that really love their dogs, and they go out of their way to welcome them into their restaurants, shops, parks, and more. If you're lucky enough to live in one of those cities, it's a pet parent's haven!

Forbes recently shared their list of top dog-friendly cities, with San Francisco topping the list. One of the key takeaways when ranking the list was that the best cities for dogs have "a fair number of dog parks and access to parks within a 10-minute walk." San Francisco won the title because "All residents (100%) have access to a park within a 10-minute walk and there are a high number of dog parks per 100,000 residents (4.2)." Henderson, Nevada, Denver, Colorado, Albuquerque, New Mexico and Portland, Oregon were the rest of the Top 5 cities.

But if you ask dog lovers, I'm sure the list would be varied. Knoxville, Tennessee is hoping to take over Forbes' #1 spot and introduced us all to 'Barxville' and why anybody with a dog should visit the city. They shared the city's highlights by filming a movie that was specifically geared towards dogs. There are colors, sounds, and sights that all dogs love, and if you have a dog, I highly recommend checking the cute movie out!
