Farm Animals Chomping on Popciscles Is the Timeline Cleanse Everyone Needs

As a child, nothing completed the perfect weekend afternoon than a refreshing popsicle after playing outside. Even when it was getting chilly at the start of autumn, I'd still beg my parents to buy another box. Now that I'm an adult, I still enjoy popsicles, and I love them even more when I get to share the last few bites with my dogs. Then, everyone's happy!

Plenty of pet and farm animal owners feel the same way, which is why animal-friendly popsicles have become more and more popular. Most of the time, it's a pet enjoying the frozen treat, but on August 27, the rescued farm animals at The Gentle Barn got to try homemade popsicles, too. There were mixed reviews from the animals, but watching them taste-test the frozen fruit bars put a smile on my face the entire time I was watching.

I don't know about you, but I could watch these furry and feathered friends trying new foods all day long! The mixed reactions made the video even more interesting (and kind of funny) and it made the positive reactions even more sweet. When Moose the chestnut horse poked his head into frame to inquire about more popsicles, I couldn't help but laugh!

It was very smart for the animal sanctuary volunteers to make one large batch of popsicles with ingredients that all the farm animals could try. It looks like there were blueberries, watermelon, and apple juice in this batch, but they mentioned that they're always looking for new flavor combinations, too. Now I wonder if picky eaters like Hazel, the rescue goat, will nibble on other popsicles or if they don't like the ice's hard, cold texture. The only problem is that I don't want to wait for the next popsicle video!

Popsicles for Pets

The Gentle Barn made popsicle-making look incredibly easy, but the good news is that it actually can be that simple. The hardest part is researching what fruits and liquids are safe for your pet to consume, but a little research will go a long way. Once you've selected your ingredients, just combine them in ice trays or popsicle molds, then freeze!

In a pinch, you can make popsicles with just one fruit. Let's use blueberries, for example, because they're safe for dogs (and many other animal species) to eat. Simply mash up some blueberries or blend them with water, then freeze! Fruit can settle to the bottom of the tray, so be sure to stir regularly if you're using only fruit and water. When the popsicles are ready, your pets will love them just as much as these rescue animals did!
