German Shepherd and Next-Door Neighbor BFF Have Sweetest Response When Parents Combine Backyards

The joy on a dog's face is hard to match during playtime. No matter what your pup likes to do for fun, watching them trot around happily with a smile on their face is worth it. Even if you're spending way too much on dog toys, these are just the kind of things you would do to keep your furry friend's tail wagging. I would know--I'm the same way!

And so is dog mom @erin_or_ember, who has an energetic German Shepherd who's just as fun-loving as she is. In fact, both Erin and Ember are besties with their next-door neighbors! Erin's friend got a pup at the same time that she did, and now Ember and Callie are BFFs, too!

Just when I thought their story couldn't be any sweeter, Erin posted an August 22 video showing the pups' heartwarming reactions to their backyards getting combined. It's the best 'mega yard' that's ever existed!

Aww--they're so happy! Ember, the German Shepherd, can hardly believe her eyes as she watches the trees being cleared away from between their yards. It's their doggie dream coming true before their very eyes!

"The zoomies are about to go crazy," wrote commenter @osbornelillian. You know it! These girls are both athletic dogs with long legs that are meant for running, and now they have twice the amount of space to do exactly that. Luckily, the dog owners are well-prepared for the pair's chaotic playdates.

How cute! Callie and Ember are the ultimate canine besties, and now they get to run to each other's houses whenever their hearts desire. It's as if the trees were taken down just for the sake of the dogs, but in reality, it was for everyone's safety and wellbeing. Erin explained that they were old, flimsy trees!

Planning Doggie Playdates

As sweet as it is to see these pals playing with literally no boundaries between them, dog owners should know that you don't need a huge backyard or to live next door to your BFF. You can meet up at the local park, trail, or dog park anytime! Of course, it's important that you know who exactly your dog is playing with, as you're less likely to encounter any problems like fights or scuffles. Of course, meeting these playmates and pals can be the hardest part, but something as simple as walking with your dog can give you an opportunity to connect with other dog owners!

Some pup parents send their dogs to doggie daycare just so they can spend the day (or part of it) playing with other pups. Extraverted dogs may love group playdates like this, but others will prefer to stick with their long-time pals. IT can take some trial and error before you figure out a plan that works for your dog, so be patient! Before you know it, your pup will be just as happy to see their friend as Callie was to see Ember.
