Romeo, oh Romeo — you pretty much can't miss Romeo. That's because the cow is huge. Standing at over 6 feet tall, Romeo is bigger than some humans — heck, he's even bigger than some NBA players. And now the gentle giant has found a new home at an animal sanctuary in Creswell, Oregon.

The Holstein cow has raised eyebrows and received lots of attention online because of his extra-large size. But life hasn't always been good for the steer.

According to The Guardian, the steer was only 10 days old when the Misty and Robert Moore of Welcome Home Animal Sanctuary saved him from being slaughtered. Six years later, Romeo hasn't just survived — he's thrived. The cow is now over 6 feet 4 inches tall, making him one of the tallest steers of his breed.

In fact, Romeo was recently recognized as the world's tallest living steer by Guinness World Record. The last holder of the title was a 6 ft. 1 in. steer named Tommy from Cheshire, Massachusetts.

Every day Romeo eats 100 lbs. of hay, 15 lbs. of grain, and a bathtub full of water to keep him satisfied. Video shared by CBS Evening News shows one of Romeo's handlers struggling to even feed the big fella. Misty told the news outlet that at one point the cow was destined to be veal before they took him in. She said she hopes that by sharing Romeo's story, it will raise awareness about what happens to male cows.

"Male calves like Romeo are often deemed as mere byproducts," The Guardian reports the woman said. Most male cows are slaughtered to produce veal or other types of meat — "their destinies are predetermined by profit margins," Misty explained.

"But fate had a different plan for Romeo," she added.

Misty recalled the day she found out about Romeo. She received a call that the young male cow needed help and could tell "he was longing for a fulfilled life," she recalled. That was when they welcomed him "with open arms and boundless love."

"It became our mission to grant him that life – a life filled with safety, compassion and unwavering affection," she added.

And people online are thankful they did. Since sharing his story online, commenters have fallen in love with Romeo. "HE'S JUST A BIG BABY," exclaimed one person. "My Boy! I have met him and volunteer at the farm, he is the Sweetest!!!" someone else cheered. "He doesn't know how truly lucky he is," a third person added.

While another commenter summed our feelings up pretty accurately: "I love him."
