Great Dane’s Funny ‘Kraken’ Noises Are Just Too Perfect

Is that a dog or is it the creature from the bottom of the sea? People online aren't sure which after watching video of a Great Dane making some truly hilarious noises. Let's just say that Appa is one of a kind.

The dog's owner captured just a few of the many moments when her dog has released sounds of "displeasure" in a video that's been circulating online.

Appa must not be a morning person, or a post-nap person, or really any kind of person who is chipper when they first get up. The video his mom shared shows the dog struggling to wake up after taking a snooze. We feel ya' Appa. Sometimes it's those couch naps that really hit the best.

What's really funny are the sounds the Great Dane makes. He wasn't just grouchy, this guy likes to complain. In fact, the dog mom later shared a list of all the things her dog's sounds have been compared to and they include "Vhagar, a didgeridoo, a man who just came off an 80 hour week, something from 'Bioshock,' a throat singer, the kraken, the bass in the pirate 'yo-ho' song," and "ship sounds from North Sea-tok," she wrote.

That's quite the list! Commenters agreed that Appa is *ahem* unique. "Definitely sounds like Vhagar," wrote one person. "Your neighbors probably think you have a small dirt bike in your house that you occasionally just turn on and rev for funzies," someone else teased. "Definitely rocking out to this didgeridoo compilation," kidded another commenter. "The clip of him opening his eyes and immediately grumbling had me dead," added one person.

The Loudest Dog Breeds

Appa's noises would make anyone believe that Great Danes are the loudest dog breed. But there are many other contenders who turn the volume up when they want to speak.

They might be everyone's favorite dog, but Golden Retrievers aren't the quiet type. A Golden named Charlie won the world record for loudest dog bark back in 2012. In all fairness, Goldens tend to be loudest when defending their families. But be forewarned that they can really make some noise.

Rotties and Doberman Pinchers are similar in their noises. Both breeds are large and are squarely built, giving them a deep, booming bark that can travel far. It's actually the reason why these breeds are thought of as being good guard dogs.

Of course this list wouldn't be complete without mentioning Huskies. These dogs are famous for their howls. They're also drama queens, which means they make noises at pretty much everything. Some people swear they're even mimicking humans and talking just like us.

You shouldn't let a dog's noises deter you from adopting. All of these pups show their humans tons of love.
