PORTSMOUTH — Atlantic Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine announce the addition of their newest provider, Maximilian Meyer, MD. Dr. Meyer will bring premiere elbow-to-fingertip care to the Seacoast as a fellowship-trained hand and upper extremity surgeon.

A native of New England, Dr. Meyer graduated from Georgetown University with a degree in International Relations. He received his medical doctorate from Northwestern University. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Residency Program in Boston, Mass., and served as chief resident at Massachusetts General Hospital. He then completed his Hand & Upper Extremity fellowship at the University of Colorado, where he gained expertise in complex upper limb reconstruction, microsurgery, and the arthroscopic management of sports injuries. His clinical interests include upper extremity trauma (broken bones, ligament injuries, cartilage lesions, tendon lacerations, nerve injuries), arthritis, compression neuropathies, and small joint arthroscopy.

Dr. Meyer is passionate about improving health outcomes internationally and has participated in medical trips to Haiti, India, and Honduras. His research interests in this realm and other aspects of hand and orthopedic surgery have led to over 25 peer-reviewed articles in leading journals, as well as several book chapters. He has presented his research locally, nationally, and internationally. He is an active member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH) and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS).

My treatment philosophy centers on listening to and working together with patients to create individualized care that can help them return to an active lifestyle. Meyer speaks English, Dutch, and Spanish and in his free time he enjoys recreational sports as well as hiking, biking, and skiing in New England and beyond. He lives in Stratham, N.H. with his wife and two children.
