It's a fear that all dog owners have...our fur baby getting sprayed by a skunk and having to clean up and try to get rid of the scent. That's what happened to country singer Jelly Roll's wife Bunnie and her Bulldog, Chachi, and I can't stop laughing at how she used what she had on hand! Bunnie posted a TikTok in mid-June of her dog in the shower covered in orange stuff, can you guess what it is?

We all know that you can use tomato juice to try to get rid of the scent, vinegar and baking soda work, too. But what if you don't have any of those things on hand? Bunnie's solution was to use Marinara sauce and dish soap! Jelly Roll is recording and laughing (and gagging!) in the background, and so are the rest of us!

What a mess! Bunnie's adorable light-colored Bulldog seems to be being a 'good boy' while mom tries to clean him up. I can't imagine how bad that bathroom must smell! Bunnie said in her caption that she is not okay, and I can understand why! Commenter Shelby Lynne received almost 27 thousand likes for her comment, "Hope he does not come out stained like the plastic Tupperware containers after storing pasta LOL! Poor lil guy!" and @K Dee Lev got more than 13 thousand likes when she added, "Him eating it is the best part haha!"

How To Get Rid of Skunk Smell

Skunks don't just randomly walk around spraying innocent dogs. In fact, skunks only spray to warn or when they have no other way to defend themselves. The poor skunk must have been terrified of the dog trying to make friends with him! Hopefully you never have to deal with trying to get the skunk smell off of your dog because it's the worst! But if you do, there are a few things that seem to work when it comes to de-skunking your dog.

Bunnie can keep these ingredients on hand just in case Chachi meets a skunk again. It's simple and cheap to make and is pretty effective. You just mix 1 quart or liter of 3% hydrogen peroxide (fresh/unopened only), 1/4 cup baking soda (no substitutes), and 1 to 2 teaspoons of liquid dishwashing soap, such as Dawn. Mix it up and apply it by lathering up the dog's fur and let it sit for up to 10 minutes before rinsing. It may take more than one application, including several.

Another Pet Helpful had this to say about the one we all know, tomato juice, "People swear by straight tomato juice baths, followed by shampoo-bathing, but I've read that this method it doesn't work and that it can stain fur on white or light-colored dogs." I wonder if it stained Chachi! Vinegar was deemed to be hit or miss as well.

Surprisingly, the article also shared this interesting trick, "This is the only soft drink that reportedly works—not Pepsi or any other cola product, but straight Coca-Cola." Well maybe Bunnie and Jelly Roll should just keep a case of Coke on hand just in case. If they don't need it, they can always pop it in the fridge and drink it!
