She said: "It's one of my favourite cities. Beyond Santa Barbara where I live, my hometown in California, Orlando and I spend so much time in London.

"Lately, we've been thinking about maybe spending more time," she added, looking excited. "We love it so much, we feel like you guys are really refined.

"We spent all day in Hyde Park yesterday, we went to the Princess Diana playground. It's great for kids. She literally went to a dinosaur-themed high tea today, I mean, where else can you do that?"

In response to a viewer question about whether she was planning another trip to the UK soon, she said: "There will be a tour, it will be all over the UK. And I've got to go to Kent soon to see my mother-in-law, we've got to go down there."

Perry also shared an embarrassing royal encounter that she had in Windsor Castle when she was worried about running late for her performance at the King's coronation concert and was lost in the castle.

She said: "I was a little bit late and I didn't want to keep him waiting. I ran into this room and my manager was like 'which way is it?' and it was William and Kate she was asking."

Perry revealed the significance of calling her new album 143, saying: "That's my angel number, it's the number I see when I need guidance or confirmation or confidence that I'm in the right place right time.

"I see it so much, it's wild. I see it in parking spots, I see it on receipts, I see it in so many different ways, it reveals itself and it's like a little message from the heavens, you're going to be ok Katy. I looked it up, it means I love you, and I felt so loved."

Perry also told a sweet story about her forthcoming song Lifetimes being inspired by her daughter. She said: "At bedtime, I've started saying to her 'will you find me in every lifetime' and she says yes."

Continuing that she had started hiding chocolate coins in the sand for Daisy when they went to the beach together, she said: "The other night I said 'will you find me in every lifetime' and she was like 'yes and we'll find chocolate coins together'. I was like every cliche is true, this is the only thing you need."

The One Show airs on BBC One at 7pm on weekdays.
