It’s a good time to be a fan of beach-based crimes because Beyond Paradise season 3 is on the way.

This Death in Paradise spin-off, which first aired in 2023, invites audiences to Shipton Abbott, a fictional town located on the Devonshire coast. It’s here where we meet Humphrey Goodman, a newbie to the area who quickly becomes the town’s new Detective Inspector, spending his days solving a variety of small-town crimes involving the local community.

In addition to its whodunnit flair, viewers also get a heady dose of drama as they follow the relationship between Goodman and his fiancée Martha as they work towards becoming foster parents. After two successful seasons and a touching 2023 Christmas special, audiences can expect the show to continue with new episodes due later this year.

Speaking of which, here’s everything we know so far about Beyond Paradise season 3.

Beyond Paradise season 3 doesn’t have a release date but it will arrive at some point in early 2025, airing on BBC One and iPlayer. Before it does, we’ll get another Christmas special which is set to air in December 2024.

Beyond Paradise season 1 landed in February 2022, with season 2 arriving in March 2023. If new episodes follow roughly the same timescales, perhaps we’ll see Beyond Paradise season 3 in early spring 2025.

Beyond Paradise season 3 will return to the Cornwall coast to continue Humphrey and Martha’s story, with a few new cases thrown into the mix to keep everyone on their toes.

That said, even when Humphrey isn’t on the beat, it’s not all smooth sailing. After nearly tying the knot the last time we saw them, the pair’s relationship is thrown up in the air following the surprise return of a familiar face from Martha’s past.

According to the show’s official synopsis, Humphrey’s team are set to encounter “a body found in the river on the county border, a baffling chocolate box poisoning, a historic farming feud and a spiking incident on the water.”

The BBC also shed some light on the season’s upcoming relationship drama, explaining that Martha and Humphrey “must overcome unexpected hurdles as foster parents, while the reappearance of Martha’s old flame Archie presents an unexpected challenge.”

Love Actually star Kris Marshall is back as DI Humphrey Goodman with Not Going Out’s Sally Bretton once again playing his fiancée Martha.

EastEnders actor Zahra Ahmadi will return as DS Esther Williams with Derry Girls favourite Dylan Llewellyn playing PC Kelly Hartford. Felicity Montague’s Margo Martins is back to offer more office support alongside Jade Harrison’s CS Charlie Woods and Melina Sinadinou’s Zoe Williams.

Fans of the first season will no doubt recognise Jamie Bamber as Martha’s ultra-charming former love interest Archie Hughes who returns for Beyond Paradise season 3 after some time away from Shipton Abbott.

Beyond Paradise season 3 will air on BBC One and iPlayer in 2025.
