My Mum, Your Dad is returning for a new series, with another line-up of single parents hoping for a second chance at love.

The ITV show, a different take on Love Island for the older generation, debuted last year with TV presenter Davina McCall on hosting duty. It went down a storm with viewers and it has now been confirmed that a second series will premiere on Monday (16 September).

But who are the next crop of middle-aged love-seekers?

Hailing from West Sussex, 53-year-old Clare is a volunteer charity worker.

"I absolutely loved the last series, I thought it was really heartwarming and relatable," she said of My Mum, Your Dad. "I've come to a crossroads in my life, I have an empty nest, I've been a full-time mum for 26 years so this is a big change. I'd love to be in a relationship, it needs to be about me now."

Her daughter Aimee, 26, describes Clare as "super kind", "caring", "sporty" and "a really good listener".

Andy and Issy on My Mum, Your Dad season 2

South Staffordshire property investor (and dog owner) Andy, 50, is ready to put himself first after caring for his elderly parents and two daughters.

He's hoping to meet "someone who will engage with you mentally, appeals to you physically and is there for you emotionally".

According to his student daughter Issy's perspective, Andy needs a partner who has older children of their own - preferably "someone who's already content with their life as it is and can bring that to my dad's life. That's such an important thing in relationships that you are both content without one another as you are together".

Jenny on My Mum, Your Dad season 2

51-year-old operations manager from Cheshire, Jenny, has met her last resort with My Mum, Your Dad.

"I have exhausted everything, if I couldn't have got onto My Mum Your Dad, there was literally nothing left," she reveals. "I joined running clubs but again it was mainly a younger crowd. I tried different social things and I was introduced to potential dates via friends. I did try!"

Son Malachi suggests Jenny has been unlucky in love, sharing: "I think she just picks men based on the fact that she could pick them, as if they were her only option, which I think is a silly way to date. I do understand that she wants to settle down."

Christian on My Mum, Your Dad season 2

Mindset coach from the Lake District, Christian, has been single for two years now.

The 46-year-old believes he's "good fun" on a date and tries to engage in "good conversation" with charm and kindness. "I thought sharing this with one of my kids would be great. It would be an experience. I knew it would be wholesome, the narrative in this is exactly what we are, middle aged people looking for love," he adds.

Pushing his dad towards Cupid's arrow is Lucas. "He can be like a kid in a candy shop sometimes," he says of Christian. "He's a cool guy, he's family orientated, loves wildlife, loves adventuring, loves being spontaneous. He's a very driven person. If he's got something on his mind he'll go for it."

Maria on My Mum, Your Dad season 2

Maria, a 51-year-old events coordinator and sometime radio presenter, spent 16 years married.

Discussing the My Mum, Your Dad process, she wasn't nervous "weirdly enough", adding: "I'm excited to be spending time with people, I don't get to do it that much. I thought it would be a nice way to get to know people and spend time with people. And whether or not a relationship blooms or not, it would be a great bonus but if it doesn't that's OK."

Contradictorily, her daughter Livia made Maria promise "not to embarrass her and to be myself". Teasing her relationship with the other kids, the 19-year-old was apparently "in tears when I had to leave".

"We all got really close because we were all in the same boat. Within half an hour we all got on so well. Watching mum was really good but embarrassing, sometimes I wish I could talk to her through the TV!"

Danny and Ellis on My Mum, Your Dad season 2

Light on confidence, sales controller Danny has been out of the dating game entirely since 2017.

As for what excites him most about the ITV programme, it's the chance to meet new people. "I thought I'd make new friends. I think if I hadn't watched the first series, I might not have been too keen but it was nice and wholesome."

Ellis, his son, argues Danny's "had long enough to feel sorry for himself" and needed "a gentle nudge in the right direction".

Vicky on My Mum, Your Dad season 2

South Wales native Vicky has spent the past decade concentrating on raising her children. "I normally go for someone who seems a bit more reserved, someone with a bit of depth that you can have a good conversation with," she says. "Even though I can be chatty and bubbly, most of the time I can be quite quiet on a personal level. If someone is overly loud constantly that would put me off!"

Due to her age, the 50-year-old's daughter Angharad acted as a "mother" to the rest of the offspring, but when it comes to Vicky's romantic ventures, apparently, she "always gets the 3-month ick".

"She's at the stage in her life where she doesn't want to compromise, she knows what she wants and once it's been 3 months she's figured out whether this is her person or not, then she doesn't want to waste anyone's time. She doesn't want to settle!"

David and Tiana on My Mum, Your Dad season 2

Bristol-based David, 53, is on the hunt for a strong independent woman.

"When I watched the first series of My Mum Your Dad I saw that there were other elements to it. It wasn't just about dating, there were group chats and I saw friendships building and other things going on," he shares. "I felt I would benefit from the interaction with the other people. I put my life on hold to bring up my kids but now it's time to focus on me."

His daughter Tiana was particularly taken by the shared experience of the cast of kids. "To have everyone else there was amazing. We still all talk now," she notes. "We all bonded and we were inseparable after the first day. It just helped us to find the connections for our parents because we are all learning stuff about each other and that helped us to make decisions for our parents."

My Mum, Your Dad sees people looking for another chance at love, whether they are widowed, divorced or just haven't really found 'The One' yet. They head off to a luxurious country retreat with several other singles in the hope that lasting romantic connections are formed.

The big twist is that they have been put forward by their grown up children who want to see their parents find happiness, and who play matchmaker and act as their "dating experts". The children then watch the relationships unfold, offering advice along the way.

The series is hosted by Davina McCall. She was linked to the programme from the outset, when people were just starting to speculate about a new "Love Island for oldies". When the show was finally confirmed she told fans on Instagram that she had "manifested it".

"I made it happen," the TV star said in a video that she uploaded to the platform. "I willed there to be an amazing new dating programme for grown-ups. People who have lived a life, who have been through experiences, bad, moving, hard, they have had tough lives.

"They’ve got luggage but they deserve love. And it is happening, it is coming."

My Mum, Your Dad begins Monday, 16 September on ITV1, ITVX, STV and STV Player.

Show bosses have said that fans can expect "more heartfelt emotion" when the dating programme returns to our screens next month.

A sneak peek trailer gives viewers a glimpse at the action, where dates include pottery making, going for a drive in a classic car and a ride in a hot air balloon.

The new families taking part include Christian and his son Lucas, David and his daughter Tiana, Maria and daughter Livia, Andy and daughter Issy, Clare and daughter Aimee, Vicky and daughter Angharad, Jenny and her son Malachi and Danny and his son Ellis.

"A new set of single parents search for love and another chance to feel the flutters, all under the watchful eye of their kids, because it is never too late to feel butterflies," McCall says in the trailer.

Several relationships were formed during the last series of the programme but not all of them went the distance, with couples including Natalie and Paul and Monique and Martin ultimately going their separate ways.

However, it was a real love story for Roger Hawes and Janey Smith, who were fan favourites during their time at the retreat. Roger went on the show after his wife sadly died in 2022 and soon hit it off with Janey, and over a year later they are still together.

Roger recently told The Sun: "We're still basking in it. We're thinking of actually going back to where they filmed it, just stop and have a walk around the village.

"On one of the episodes it showed where we had this first kiss, where we had a helicopter ride, we're thinking of going back and having a walk through the village and looking where it all happened."

Since the show, the pair have also become a part of ITV's This Morning, where they visit stunning locations for travel segments.
