It’s no secret that super sleuths are enjoying a bit of a resurgence and to celebrate, Netflix is producing a new take on Agatha Christie classic The Seven Dials Mystery.

Written by Broadchurch and Doctor Who’s Chris Chibnall and produced by The Crown’s Suzanne Mackie, the streamer is going all out to give Christie’s tale a youthful overhaul. In it, we’ll meet a young case cracker who’s drawn into a new mystery that has the potential to blow her whole world apart.

The series is the latest in a string of murder mysteries that have been infiltrating pop culture lately.

From Rian Johnson inviting Daniel Craig to chin-stroke as Southern sleuth Benoit Blanc in two (soon to be three) Knives Out films, to Richard Osman’s The Thursday Murder Club gathering A-list talent to accompany it from the page to the big screen. It seems audiences just can’t get enough of a good old grizzly death at the moment.

The Seven Dials Mystery is the latest offering. Here’s what we know about it so far…

Netflix’s The Seven Dials Mystery doesn’t have a release date at the moment.

The show went into production in early July, with filming set to take place throughout the summer. With that in mind, it’s likely we won’t get to hit play on the show until 2025 at the earliest.

Christie originally published The Seven Dials Mystery in 1929, telling the story of a mystery that ensues following a curious death at a house party.

However, as the story’s main sleuth Bundle gets closer to untangling the truth, more people begin to die with all clues pointing towards the ominous ‘seven dials’.

In the new show, Netflix reimagines Bundle as a “young, determined” detective who finds herself forced to figure out whether an accidental death was really as accidental as it seems.

The streamer’s official synopsis goes into a little more detail. “England. 1925. At a lavish country house party, a practical joke appears to have gone horribly, murderously wrong,” it reads.

“It will be up to the unlikeliest of sleuths — the fizzingly inquisitive Lady Eileen “Bundle” Brent — to unravel a chilling plot that will change her life, cracking wide open the country house mystery.”

Mia McKenna-Bruce will lead The Seven Dials Mystery as Bundle, the detective at the heart of this Christie case. Bruce has previously appeared in films like How To Have Sex and Persuasion and was the winner of the 2024 Bafta Rising Star award.

“Chris Chibnall’s scripts are brilliant,” said Bruce on joining the show. “I am thrilled to be part of this new interpretation of the iconic Agatha Christie’s storytelling.”

She’ll be joined by an all-star cast that includes Harry Potter actor Helena Bonham-Carter as Lady Caterham, plus The Hobbit star Martin Freeman as a character named Battle.

My Lady Jane actor Edward Bluemel will appear in a role that remains a mystery for now.

With shooting currently under way in Bath, we’re sure more names will be added to the cast as Netflix begins to unravel Christie’s case.
