Malaga earthquake: 6.1 magnitude quake hits off Spanish coast
A major 6.1 magnitude earthquake has struck the Mediterranean between Morocco and Spain.
The 20-miles-deep quake hit 39 miles north of the Moroccan city of Al Hoceima and 100 miles south east of Malaga at 4.22am on Monday morning, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS).
It was followed by a 5.3-magnitude tremor, and is thought to have a "low likelihood of casualties and damage", reports the Daily Telegraph.

Malaga is an extremely popular holiday destination for Brits, with millions of us visiting every year.
The Metro reports that emergency services in Andalusia received 250 calls from shocked residents, while in Morocco 200 residents reported damage to their homes.
Tremors and shocks were felt in Malaga, Cordoba, Seville and Granada.

In 2004 a 6.3 earthquake hit near Al Hoceima killing 631 people, the Independent reports.
