Fitchburg singer Lavender Darcangelo’s journey on NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” will continue.

At the end of Wednesday night’s elimination episode, host Terry Crews revealed that Darcangelo will move on to the show’s September finale, where she will compete for the grand prize of $1 million and a Las Vegas performing residency.

Darcangelo, wearing a shimmering indigo dress and holding hands with her father Wil Darcangelo, jumped with joy when Crews made the announcement and waved enthusiastically to the audience as she and Wil made their way offstage.

Celebrity judge Heidi Klum, who gave Lavender the “golden buzzer” during her audition and automatically gave her a place in the semifinal round, said she was committed to seeing Lavender succeed.

“I said I wanted to hold your hand and go all the way to the finish line and guess what’s happening?” Klum said. “When this show is over, I still want to be your best friend.”

Tuesday night’s episode of “America’s Got Talent” featured 11 contestants competing in a semifinal round including multiple other musical acts.

At the end of the semifinal, Lavender performed a dramatic cover of Foreigner’s “I Want To Know What Love Is,” which received a standing ovation from the live audience and judges and a warm hug from Klum onstage while the credits rolled.

Viewers had until 7 a.m. Wednesday morning to vote for their favorite contestants, with the two contestants who received the most votes moving on to the final round.

Lavender and dog trainer Adrian Stoica were the top two finishers in the voting.

At the River Styx Brewing Company in Fitchburg, the site of the Darcangelos’ watch party for Lavender’s audition episode in July, a projection screen showed “America’s Got Talent” on one side of the bar and all chairs were turned in its direction.

Every time Lavender popped up onscreen, the already noisy space was filled with a sudden cheer.

The room was full of suspense for more than one reason. Minutes from the end of the episode, the bar lost its connection to the broadcast and the suddenly blank screen was met with a collective groan of disappointment.

With moments to go, a bartender brought the livestream back onscreen and the entire bar erupted in cheers when Crews announced Lavender would be advancing to the final “America’s Got Talent” round.
