Despite surging interest rates and inflation remaining persistently high, home values are up overall in Chicago and the suburbs.

As of May, the average value of a single-family home in the Chicago area was just over $363,000 — about $16,000 above the national average.

But in parts of Chicago and the surrounding region, the average home value soars far above the national average. In the city’s Lincoln Park neighborhood, the average price of a home is close to $750,000, and in the suburbs of Hinsdale, Glencoe and Winnetka, it exceeds $1 million. Still, the average home value in Kenilworth is even greater, with the highest in the Chicago area at a whopping $1.5 million.

On the city’s South Side and in the south suburbs, single-family homes are valued far below the regional average. In Harvey and Robbins, home values are the lowest, dropping below $100,000.
