Why will I love it?
If you’re looking for a plant that’s as elegant as it is easy to care for, look no further than the bamboo palm (Rhapis excelsa). Its slender stems, adorned with fan-like fronds, arch outwards to create a verdant oasis in your living room. Plus, it’s a natural air purifier.

Light or shade?
One of the perks of this fabulous foliage is its adaptability to various light conditions. It thrives in bright, indirect light, but can tolerate lower light levels, making it a good fit for shady corners.

Where should I put it?
This versatile plant will complement any room, whether perched in a cosy corner, gracing an office desk or as a statement piece in a hallway. Just ensure it has space to spread out – and show off those magnificent fronds.

How do I keep it alive?
Fear not, fellow plant lovers, caring for the bamboo palm is a breeze! Keep its soil consistently moist, but not soggy, and provide it with a well-draining pot to prevent root rot. Regular misting will help maintain humidity levels, especially during the drier winter months. And remember to dust those leaves occasionally to keep them looking their best.

Did you know …
Originating from the damp mountain forests of southern China, the plant made its way to Japan during the Tokugawa shogunate era, where it was used to decorate palaces. In feng shui, the bamboo palm symbolises growth and vitality. You may sometimes hear it called the lady palm, miniature fan palm or ground rattan palm.
