National Hurricane Center keeping eye on 4 tropical waves. No development expected

The National Hurricane Center continues to monitor several tropical waves in the Atlantic basin, but no tropical development is expected over the next seven days, according to the latest advisory.

There are four tropical waves in the Atlantic basin, which consists of the North Atlantic, Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico.

Several tropical waves are expected to continue moving off the west coast of Africa and into the Atlantic.

Saharan dust across the Central Atlantic, combined with strong wind shear, makes development of a tropical system unlikely over the coming week, according to AccuWeather forecasters.

The next named storm of the season will be Don.

  • Tropical wave 1: A tropical wave moved offshore western Africa early this morning.

  • Tropical wave 2: A tropical wave in the eastern Atlantic tropical wave is located west of Cabo Verde. It's moving west at 11 to 17 mph. Exact location: along 36W from 04N to 15N.

  • Tropical wave 3: A tropical wave in the central Atlantic is located east of Dominca. It's moving west at 17 mph. Exact location: along 52W from 04N to 16N.

  • Tropical wave 4: A tropical wave in the Caribbean extends from Colombia to Jamaica. It's moving west at 17 mph.

It's too early at this time to determine if there will be any impact to the U.S. from the tropical waves.
