These Olympic uniforms stand out from the pack: See some of the most fashion-forward looks

Olympic athletes from around the world have been showing off their official uniforms in the weeks leading up to the Paris Summer Games — and they’re incredibly fashion-forward. Ahead of the opening ceremony on Friday, designers and brands responsible for curating Olympic team uniforms have continued to drum up excitement by sharing their collections via social media — and both sports and fashion enthusiasts can’t seem to get enough.

Over the course of the Games, which conclude on Aug. 11, athletes will step out in the fashion capital of the world in carefully crafted uniforms that represent and celebrate their home countries. While each country’s uniform is worthy of celebration, there are a few that stand out from the rest.

Haitian-Italian designer Stella Jean, who crafted this year’s uniforms for Team Haiti, teamed up with Haitian painter Philippe Dodard to deliver vibrantly patterned garments that celebrate the country’s cultural vitality including traditional Haitian weaving.

Unveiled just last week, Team Mongolia’s uniform, designed by Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia-based couturier Michel & Amazonka, has taken social media by storm with its chic interpretation of traditional Mongolian attire. According to the Mongolian National Olympic Committee, the outfits, which feature intricate embroidery, striking pleats and a sophisticated use of the country’s national colors, reportedly each took 20 hours to complete.

Justin Chou, who heads the brand Just In XX, was chosen to craft Chinese Taipei’s team uniform. Spotlighting Taiwanese artisans Yen Yu-Ying, who practices banana fiber weaving, and Pei-Ying Lin, who creates floral chest pins, Chou’s collection highlights traditional Taiwanese culture while still maintaining his signature avant-garde-meets-streetwear design disposition.

Outfitted by longtime collaborator Ralph Lauren, Team USA’s uniforms effortlessly blend sporty silhouettes with classic tailoring to craft a quintessential, all-American collection. Lauren will be dressing the U.S. team at both opening and closing ceremonies for the ninth time.
