Lorraine Kelly shares details of daughter Rosie's traditional marriage proposal

Lorraine Kelly has revealed her daughter Rosie Smith's fiance asked her husband's permission before proposing to her.
The Celebrity Gogglebox star and daughter of the ITV chat show host has announced she is engaged to Steve White after he popped the question on holiday. The couple are expecting a baby girl together, due in September.
The Lorraine host has now shared details of her daughter's engagement, disclosing how her future son-in-law had hidden the engagement ring in his sock drawer while he sought permission for Rosie's hand-in-marriage from her father. And when the moment came he got down on one knee.

Kelly, 64, spoke to Good Morning Britain hosts Susanna Reid and Adil Ray, who offered their congratulations. Kelly revealed: "Rosie and her Steve got engaged. He is wonderful. He's had the ring for quite some time. Got it sorted out, did the whole thing, asked my Steve's permission Went down on one knee, did the whole thing. It's fantastic! Much needed happy news."
Later her on her own show Kelly told Hollywood correspondent Ross King: "When the two of them were obviously by themselves, he got down on one knee and he did the whole thing properly. He managed to get the ring, and I think he had it in his sock drawer for quite some time and then managed to - she was so surprised, she had no idea. So it's just lovely, so much to look forward to. It's just it's just great, and we're absolutely thrilled.
"His family are delightful. We met lots more of them at the weekend, and they're lovely. They're just really, really lovely."
Smith, 30, is Kelly's only child with her husband Steve Smith, a television cameraman she married in 1992. Asked about her daughter's fiance also being called Steve she laughed: "It is a little bit confusing, but it's absolutely fine."

Smith announced her engagement on social media, posting a picture of herself in a luxury restaurant on the beach in Spain, with her diamond engagement ring on display.
She shared: "There are too many lovely things going on and I’m not quite sure what to do with myself Everyone always told me you’ll know when it’s about to happen but I had absolutely no idea, but I have a lifetime to get you back @stevewhite94 The biggest thank you ever to @elizabethmacdonaldjewels for being so sneaky and helping to design the most beautiful ring. Going for a lie down now…"
Kelly announced in April that Smith was expecting her first child and she was "so excited" to be becoming a grandmother. She posted: "THE most exciting thing to have ever happened in our family! Cannot wait to be a granny and so proud of Rosie and her Steve. It’s the best news EVER! Posted @withregram • @rosiekellysmith We could not be more excited - you’re already so loved little one."
Smith has since confirmed to Hello magazine she is expecting a girl and she is due in September. Mum Kelly said she cried when her daughter told her the happy news. She told the publication: "I thought she was looking a wee bit peaky, but I had no idea it was that, so it was the best possible surprise. Of course, I cried when I found out and Rosie's dad Steve is thrilled to bits too."
Kelly and Smith share a close mother-daughter bond, and the TV presenter struggled to be apart from her daughter for so long during the coronavirus pandemic, as Smith was living abroad. The pair star together on Celebrity Gogglebox.
