The American entertain journalist died unexpectedly after experiencing a heart attack on Friday 10 May aged 64, days after appearing on the ITV show. This Morning paid tribute to US entertainment contributor in a lengthy segment at the opening of Monday's show.
Fellow showbiz reporter Ross King admitted he was struggling with his emotions as he remembered his friend and colleague live on air.
What, how, and why?
Sam Rubin was an entertainment news presenter for KTLA Morning News in America, and also reported on US red carpet news for This Morning. His death was announced on Friday 10 May after he died suddenly at his home in Los Angeles. He was married to wife Leslie and had four children.
This Morning paid tribute to Rubin on social media on the day of his death. As presenters Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard opened the show on Monday morning, they began by remembering the Hollywood reporter - who had appeared on the show live from Los Angeles just days before his death.
Fellow US entertainment correspondent Ross King appeared live on video link to help celebrated Rubin's memory. He looked teary-eyed and apologised that he was struggling for words as his emotions got the better of him during his tribute.
Scottish presenter King, 62, said: "It's an incredible legacy. When I left KTLA, he was the one who through the leaving party for me. I'm gonna miss him so much, and I've spoke to his colleagues at KTLA and it is a devastating loss. It was just that shock, on Thursday he was on air as usual, then Friday he was gone."
King added: "I thought, 'Sam would've loved this,' and I hope Sammy, you're looking down at this. He was loved. I hope he can see the love that he's getting from the industry."
Deeley added: "You could really see how much he loved what he did." It followed after many Hollywood stars have paid tribute to red carpet reporter Rubin, including Tom Hanks, How To Get Away With murder star Viola Davis, Reese Witherspoon, Star Trek star William Shatner, Deadpool's Ryan Reynolds and Jamie Lee Curtis.
