Barbie stars John Cena and Simu Liu have reunited for the first time onscreen in the trailer for Jackpot!

The actors, who both played versions of Ken in Greta Gerwig's record-breaking blockbuster, appear alongside Crazy Rich Asians' Awkwafina in the comedy directed by Paul Feig.

The Prime Video film, written by Rob Yescombe, is set in the near future when a "Grand Lottery" has been set up in California – where people must kill the winner before sundown to win the multibillion-dollar jackpot.

Jackpot! follows Katie Kim (Awkwafina), who finds herself accidentally in possession of the winning ticket after moving to Los Angeles. While desperate to survive the jackpot hunters intent on tracking her down, she joins forces with Noel Cassidy (John Cena), an amateur lottery-protection agent.

If the murderous masses weren't enough – Noel also must face off against his rival Louis Lewis (Simu Liu) who also seeks to collect Katie's prize at all costs.

The first trailer gives fans a taste of the mayhem set to hit screens on August 15, with Katie and Noel evading a number of bloody murder attempts in bizarre and hilarious ways.

Wrestling icon Cena surprised fans in 2023 when he appeared as Mermaid Ken in Barbie, alongside Liu as a separate version of the iconic doll.

Despite breaking box-office records and being met with rave reviews, the Peacemaker star revealed he was told the role was "beneath him".

Meanwhile, Shang Chi star Liu has given fans a positive update on the status of a second film in the Marvel franchise.

The news came as a fan wrote on Threads: "I feel like Marvel has abandoned the Shang-Chi fanbase," they wrote. "There has been no effort by the studio to get the sequel filming or even include the character in other Marvel films. Frustrating as hell."

Awkwafina, who also starred in Shang-Chi, most recently appeared alongside Ryan Reynolds, John Krasinski, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Steve Carell in IF, voicing Bubble.

The new family movie from writer-director Krasinski sees Barbie star Reynolds play Cal, who helps his neighbour, a young girl called Bea (Cailey Fleming), when they're both able to see imaginary friends.

Jackpot! is released on Amazon Prime Video on August 15.
