Britney Spears has shared a sketch of what appears to be the Birmingham Bullring on her social media, prompting questions from fans.

The American pop singer, 42, shared the drawing with her 42.2 million Instagram followers on Tuesday, captioning it with: “Just a pen and a church!!!”

The sketch seems to depict what people have recognised as the Grade-II listed St Martin’s Church and the uniquely shaped Bullring shopping centre behind it.

While comments on her post have been limited, fans responded to the unexpected drawing on X, formerly Twitter, with one writing: “Britney Spears posting a sketch she did of the Bullring in Birmingham was not something I was ever expecting to see.”

Another asked: “Why has Britney Spears posted a hand-drawn picture of Birmingham on her Instagram may I ask!?”

A fourth person offered to show her around the city, quipping: “Britney let me take you to the Tescos in Birmingham I got my egg and cress sandwich from.”

It is unclear what Spears’ connection to Birmingham is. She currently resides in an Italian villa-style home on a 21-acre property in California.

Her maternal great-grandmother, Lillian Portell, was English but was born in London rather than Birmingham.

Spears visited Birmingham in 2018 when she performed at the Genting Arena following her four year residency in Las Vegas.

The … Baby One More Time singer often shares videos of her dance routines on Instagram, and offers fans a personal insight into her day-to-day life.

She published a memoir, The Woman In Me, last October after being freed from a restrictive conservatorship which controlled her life and money for nearly 14 years in November 2021.

Spears has also announced a split from Sam Asghari, her estranged husband. They tied the knot at a star-studded ceremony at the US singer’s home in Los Angeles in June 2022 after meeting on the set of the Slumber Party music video in 2016.

Their wedding was attended by high-profile guests including Madonna, Selena Gomez, Drew Barrymore and Paris Hilton.

However, the couple announced their split in August 2023, citing “irreconcilable differences” in their court filings, and their divorce is reportedly set to be finalised later this year.
