Coronation Street airs disturbing Carla scenes as she's drugged

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street has aired disturbing scenes as Carla Connor has been drugged.

The factory boss is the latest target of the cobbles' latest potential serial killer Stephen Reid. Earlier in the week, Carla warned him against crossing her in any business disputes.

In Wednesday's (February 15) episode, Stephen's vendetta against Carla intensified when she called a meeting to announce that Sarah would be replacing him as Head of Design.

This meant that Stephen would be reduced to Office Manager, even after he delivered a signed, exclusive contract from fabric buyer Rufus.

Little does Carla know that Stephen had to blackmail Rufus to get the deal signed.

Stephen was determined to make Carla pay for publicly embarrassing, so he decided to spike her coffee with the LSD he'd gotten from Rufus.

Carla was almost immediately feeling disoriented on the floor of the factory as she tried to supervise her workforce. Stephen watched in glee, then later managed to spike her red wine at the Rovers as well.

Carla grew paranoid that everyone at the table was talking about her, so she snapped at Sean and then accused Sarah of trying to get her to stay home sick.

Peter recognised something was off with Carla, so he immediately got a taxi to take her home.

Meanwhile, Stephen snuck back into Carla's office at the factory to shred some urgent paperwork and cancel an important meeting on her virtual calendar.

He ran into Peter on the way home and tried to plant the seed that Carla has been "off" at work. Peter wasn't having any of it, insisting to Stephen that "it was just a blip".

"Apart from that, she's healthy, she's strong," Peter insisted.

Once Peter got back home, Carla confided in him that she was still feeling unsteady but couldn't quite figure out why.

"I feel disjointed," she confided in Peter. "Do I look weird? My head feels like it weighs a tonne."

When she told Peter she was staring off into the distance at "shapes", he worried she was having another mental health crisis after her severe psychotic episode a few years ago.

Will he figure out Carla has been drugged?

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
