Coronation Street star Lucy Fallon teases secret in Bethany Platt return plot

Bethany Platt is making her big return to Coronation Street in the ITV soap's New Year's Eve episode.
Lucy Fallon, who plays Bethany, left the cobbles in 2020 – but she's coming back to start 2024 with a bang.
Speaking to Digital Spy and other media, Fallon shed as much light as she could on why Bethany is back in Weatherfield after her move to London.

When asked if her time in London will be explored, Fallon said: "Yeah. She's basically been forced to come back.
"I don't know if I'm allowed to say what it is! But there is something that has happened in London that has kind of forced her to come back.
"Bethany is not revealing that straight away. She's being a bit secretive about why she has come back," Fallon continued.
"I don't know if I can say anything else about that."

Speaking about what she'd like to see for Bethany in the coming months, Fallon said: "I want her to be involved in some drama, obviously that goes without saying, and I'd like her to get the person that she wants.
"Hopefully she does? I don't know if she definitely will yet. I'd like to see her pursue her journalism career and for it all to work out," she added.
"But then I do want there to be some drama. I don't know what drama I want that to be. But I hope that there is some, which I'm sure there will be."
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
