Coronation Street's Paul makes a big decision ahead of exit story

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street's Paul Foreman plans a flat move tonight (April 3) after discovering the truth about Dee-Dee Bailey's generosity.

Paul has struggled to support himself since he was signed off work due to problems with his right hand.

The labourer initially thought that his symptoms were the result of being knocked off a motorbike by Carla Barlow, who drove the Underworld van into him a few weeks ago.

However, Paul has since been told that the issue with his hand is unlikely to be linked to the crash.

Last week, Paul was pleased when his flatmate Dee-Dee arranged for him to start doing casual work at the solicitor's office. He was unaware that Dee-Dee had decided to pay him using her own money.

In Monday's episode, Adam Barlow accidentally lets slip to Paul that Dee-Dee is the one covering his wages.

This hurts Paul's pride, especially as Dee-Dee has also been covering for him when it comes to their rent.

Making a big decision, Paul packs up his things and tells Dee-Dee that he's moving out.

Paul insists that Dee-Dee deserves a proper flatmate who'll pay their way, as he doesn't want to be known as a charity case. But what does this mean for their friendship?

Last month, Corrie bosses announced that Paul will be diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) in the coming weeks.

The story will air over many months, but as there's currently no cure for MND, it will ultimately lead to Paul's death.

Peter Ash, who plays Paul, recently told us: "I was called into the producer's office late last year. It was a shock. I suppose it's always a bit scary when you get called into the producer's office!

"[Coronation Street producer] Iain MacLeod said that they had a big storyline for me and it should be a great thing to do, but unfortunately, it would mean an eventual exit.

"I had mixed feelings, obviously. I'll be sad to leave the show – it's been such an amazing job and I've met fantastic people.

"But also, I'm quite happy to be involved in such a powerful storyline that hopefully will bring awareness to MND. It's also going to be quite a progression of Paul's illness."

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
