EastEnders’ Sharon hides a big secret in early iPlayer release

EastEnders spoilers follow for Monday’s episode (September 16), which is available to watch now on streaming service BBC iPlayer and hasn’t yet aired on TV.

EastEnders’ Sharon Watts has hidden a big secret from Martin Fowler in the show’s latest episode.

Sharon spent last week in prison after being charged with contempt of court, and she reunited with her former stepmum Chrissie.

It was a dramatic week for the pair, but when Chrissie was released, they left on somewhat good terms – before she reunited with old flame Jake Moon, who is in fact alive.

But before they parted ways, Chrissie revealed to Sharon that she used to share a cell with Ruby Allen, before she gave birth.

This is confirmation that Ruby was pregnant when she left the show in 2021, and Sharon realised that Martin had a child who he had never met.

In today’s episode, Sharon was released from prison, and she said goodbye to her loyal cellmate Doreen – but she was conflicted about what to do with this new information.

She returned to the Square and reunited with Albie, before telling Phil about Ruby’s baby and asking him for advice.

Phil told her that keeping secrets can only bring trouble and encouraged her to tell Martin the big news today.

Later, Sharon went to see Linda in The Vic and confronted her about telling Bernie the truth about Keanu’s death.

Linda said she was prepared to take all the blame if Bernie tells the police and revealed that Elaine now knows everything too.

Sharon then saw Martin, and prepared to tell him about the baby, but she was stopped in her tracks by Elaine.

Elaine was devastated that she had been kept in the dark, but Sharon reminded her that they were on the same side, explaining that she had served time in prison while lying for Linda.

They agreed to continue keeping Linda’s secret, then Sharon decided to finally have the conversation with Martin.

However, Martin was stressed about Sonia’s imprisonment and told Sharon that one more thing would push him over the edge.

Sharon is therefore still sitting on this baby bombshell, but with Ruby set to return to the show later this year, when will Martin find out about his secret child?

EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
