Emmerdale has released a dramatic first look at the upcoming barn fire that is set to send shockwaves through the village.

The ITV soap premiered a new clip of the huge event during an advert break on today's edition of This Morning, previewing what fans can expect from the episodes next month.

Check out the new Emmerdale trailer below:

This September will see an intense week of drama in the Dales, with big secrets being revealed and leading to disaster.

In recent weeks, viewers have seen Moira Dingle acting strangely, drinking heavily and falling out with her family.

Things took an alarming turn in yesterday's episode (August 27) when Moira suddenly collapsed and suffered a seizure.

A concerned Cain will question his wife's erratic behaviour in future episodes, but Moira's reaction starts a devastating chain of events which will have huge consequences.

In the trailer, Moira is seen aiming a shotgun at someone, with Ruby seen in the barn alongside her, while village newcomer John tells Mack that someone is trapped.

As the barn becomes engulfed in flames, Ruby is left unconscious, while Cain puts his life in danger to try and save Moira from the blaze.

Meanwhile, Nate and Tracy split up earlier this year after Tracy's affair with Caleb – but in upcoming episodes, they will revisit their feelings for each other.

The couple will get their relationship back on track, but things could come crashing down before they can get their fresh start.

Cain has been suspicious about Moira and Nate – who previously had an affair – and in the trailer, Caleb reveals that he witnessed the pair kissing.

With actor Jurell Carter's final scenes set to air in the coming weeks, will this be how Nate leaves the show?

Elsewhere, Belle has escaped from her abusive marriage to Tom, but she will continue to be manipulated by him – with a special 'alternate realities' episode set to air next week.

"I love you so much," she is heard saying in the trailer, "and that love is never going to go away". Tom also chillingly says, "You look so beautiful when you cry," suggesting that Belle might have returned to her husband.

It looks like Belle is in danger again, but so is Tom, as he's seen thrown to the floor with cuts on his face and a bloody nose.

As Tom tightens his emotional grip, will Belle be able to seek help and truly escape his clutches?

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
