Get Away, the new horror-comedy featuring former Heartstopper star Sebastian Croft, has unveiled its first image.

The film, which was previously titled Svalta, will follow a family as they navigate a remote island, though they have their work cut out as a serial killer is on the loose and the locals seemingly have no interest in helping them.

Also starring Aisling Bea and Nick Frost (who also served as a screenwriter), the film has now unveiled its first image, with the leading trio and newcomer Maisie Ayres pictured by the coast with a pensive look.

In addition to its first image, Get Away has landed its world premiere and release date, with Fantastic Fest previewing the film later this month before its wide release in the US on December 6. The film will then move to streaming service Shudder, with streaming available in 2025.

“I’m thrilled Get Away has found a home at IFC Films and Shudder, alongside the constant support and collaboration with Wayward Entertainment and the gang at XYZ,” said Frost (via Variety). "It’s such a good fit and a real relief knowing that Get Away is in such safe hands. I can’t wait for you to finally see it in theatres!”

“I am super hyped that Get Away found its perfect partner in IFC Films and Shudder to bring the film to North American audiences,” added director Steffen Haars. “We can’t wait to invite everyone on this killer trip with the Smith family to the unwelcome island of Svälta.”

Emily Gotto, SVP of acquisitions and production for Shudder, also shared a statement following the news, saying: “Get Away is a laugh out loud comedy that pours several buckets of blood onto a family’s sweet vacation in Sweden.

“This hilarious thrill ride will stir up laughs and scares in equal measure. Nick Frost revs up his horror comedy expertise with the support of a strong ensemble cast and Steffen Haars’ playful directorial touch.”

Get Away will be released in US cinemas on December 6 before heading to Shudder in 2025. A UK release date is yet to be confirmed.
