Gemma Whelan addresses ITV show's future ahead of season 3
Gemma Whelan has addressed the future of The Tower, as the series approaches its third season.
The ITV police drama is based on Kate London's book series, and it stars Whelan as DS Sarah Collins. First hitting our screens in 2021, The Tower returned in 2023 for a second season titled The Tower 2: Death Message.
Season three, based on London's third novel in the series, was also announced in 2023. Though an official release date has not yet been confirmed, Whelan is already gearing up for the next chapter.

When asked about a return for season four, the actor beamed with enthusiasm. "Yes please!" she told The Mirror. "I think everyone's so keen – we're all so keen; I'm trying to send all the thoughts to ITV and all the people to tune in."
Her excitement was matched by writer and executive producer Patrick Harbinson, who revealed he was already making plans for the next instalment.
"Absolutely, I'm already writing the first episode of The Tower four just to show ITV that we're ready to go," he teased, before sharing his interest in continuing the story.

Meanwhile, Harbinson has already promised big things for the upcoming season of The Tower.
Season three, The Tower 3: Gallowstree Lane, will see the return of DS Sarah Collins (Whelan), PC Lizzie Adama (Tahirah Sharif), DC Steve Bradshaw (Jimmy Akingbola) and DI Kieran Shaw (Emmett J Scanlan).
"We're delighted to be filming a third series of The Tower," said Harbinson. "Gallowstree Lane has a high-stakes drugs and gangs storyline with Jimmy and Emmett's characters taking major roles. Sarah and Lizzie have gripping and heart-breaking stories, too, as the drama of Portland Tower comes full circle. I firmly believe series three will be our best yet."
The Tower is available to watch on ITVX, with the third series still awaiting an official release date.
