The King has arrived to the sound of the pipes at a flower show in Aberdeen.

Charles wore a kilt as he opened the Royal Horticultural Society of Aberdeen’s (RHSA) 200th Summer Flower Show, in Duthie Park, Aberdeen.

His Majesty, who is currently in Scotland as part of the Royal family’s traditional summer holiday in the Scottish Highlands, is the patron of the society. Previous patrons include the late Queen and King George.

He met exhibitors, RHSA members and viewed the floral displays, including vegetables entered in the National Vegetable Society Scottish Group vegetable competition.

Accompanied by Brian Grant, the chairman of the RHSA, the King met with young RHSA members who tend to Duthie Park, a 44-acre park given to the council in 1881 by Elizabeth Crombie Duthie of Ruthrieston.
