A company specialising in creating spectacular sculptures including dinosaurs, world landmarks and snakes from Lego and other plastic bricks has collapsed into administration.

Simon Jagger and Ben Woodthorpe, partners at ReSolve, were appointed joint administrators of Brick Live International and are now seeking a buyer for the business

Brick Live supplies sculptures for events and tours in the UK and around the world, including in Italy, the Netherlands and the USA.

Partners have included Detroit Zoo, Zoo Park in the Netherlands and Singapore Zoo.

Revenues for the years ended 2018 and 2019 totalled £4.2 million and £5.4 million but fell sharply during the pandemic. The most recent set of accounts filed at Companies House for the year to end 2022 show turnover of just £1.9 million and pre-tax losses of £707,000.

The west Byfleet based company owns an extensive collection of brick-based sculptures that have been hired out to its international customer base.

In addition it also holds more than 75,000kgs of assorted loose toy bricks around 60,000kgs of which are stored in the UK. It has no business connection with Lego.

Expressions of interest are requested by 3pm on Wednesday 2nd October 2024.

Jagger said: “We are excited to present this opportunity to acquire the business and/or assets of Brick Live.

Market conditions for the events and entertainment industries have sufficiently improved following the COVID-19 pandemic and we believe that, with the right management, performance could be returned to pre-COVID levels. Additionally, the Company’s large portfolio of assets, in addition to its wide, international customer base, makes it an attractive prospect for acquisition.”
