A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a baby was found dead on a central London street.

The baby was found dead in Taviton Street, Bloomsbury after police responded to a concern for welfare call on Monday afternoon.

Pictures from the scene appear to show a forensics tent outside a terraced home on the high-end central London street where homes can fetch £3 million.

The age of the baby is not yet known.

One builder working next door said a bin they had been regularly using had been sealed off by police.

He told The Independent: “There were so many police and ambulances. We saw a man being arrested on the steps they had him in cuffs. He seemed quite calm.

“There were four coppers on him others were bagging his stuff up.

“Next to the ambulance they were holding up silver blankets all around to shield someone.”
