Jones announced the exciting news via Instagram this week by sharing some promo photos of himself and the cast in their costumes.

"Popped down to the Diff to do some press with this LOVELY (extremely talented) bunch! Laughed all day… bodes well for Christmas! See you @newtheatrecdf hopefully!" he captioned the post.

Several of the presenter's Morning Live co-stars were quick to share their support in the post's comments section, including Michelle Ackerley, who wrote: "Can't wait to come and watch!"

"That'll be another weekend spent in a ticket queue then!" said Dr Oscar Duke, while Dr Punam Krishan added: "Check you out! Love the whole look. We can't wait to come see you xxx."

This isn't Jones' first time playing Prince Charming in a pantomime, as the former Blue Peter presenter previously played the character in Guilford in 2007.

"I absolutely loved it – it was one of the best experiences I've had in my career," he told Wales Online.

"I never thought I'd get a chance to do another one but I think the stars aligned this year. I managed to sort it out with work and to come back to Cardiff, it's very very special."
