This Morning's Ben Shephard details "really emotional" family milestone
This Morning star Ben Shephard has opened up about a “really emotional” family milestone following his son’s departure for university.
The presenter appeared in a live link on yesterday’s (September 16) Lorraine as Lorraine noted it was an “emotional” weekend for Ben and said she “can’t believe” that his son Sam was at university.
“Yeah, he’s at uni. He’s been there for a week,” Ben explained. “He actually starts lectures today. So he's had freshers. And it was all very emotional.”

After showing a sweet picture of Sam and his mother Annie, Ben revealed: “She was better than I was to be fair, I was really, really emotional about it.”
“But he’s doing great, thank you. Lots of people have been asking about it,” he added, before opening up about a call they received from him earlier that day.
“He FaceTimed us this morning at 7:30 asking his mum how he does his washing. She was thrilled,” Ben joked. “She's still needed, Lorraine.”
Ben later elaborated on the funny moment on This Morning, saying that Annie “couldn't have been happier that she's still very needed”.

“You do realise he’ll end up giving up – this time next week he will just come home,” co-presenter Cat Deeley quipped.
“It was lovely to feel wanted,” Ben added.
Ben and Cat, who took over as main presenters on This Morning earlier this year, recently returned from their summer break from the show.
Their comeback was teased with a new promo alongside fellow presenters Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary.
This Morning and Lorraine both air Mondays through Fridays on ITV1 and ITVX.
