Boris Johnson is not expected to join the campaign trail between now and the general election - but the Conservatives are hoping he will help boost the party's fortunes.

With the Tories way behind in the polls, the party has turned to Johnson in an attempt to gain much-needed support to battle Nigel Farage’s Reform UK, which overtook the Conservatives in one poll.

Johnson is said to have put his name to hundreds of thousands of letters due to be sent out to voters, urging them not to support Reform UK and warning Labour could end up in power for a generation, as well as recording videos for social media endorsing some candidates.

But the former PM is not expected on the campaign trail, with some reports suggesting he is due to take another holiday having recently gone to Sardinia with wife Carrie.

Asked whether Johnson would be joining him on the campaign trail, in an interview with Nick Ferrari on LBC, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said: "It's been great having him supporting the Conservative Party. He's been endorsing lots of candidates with videos and letters and that's really great and I know that'll make a big difference.

"Every week, as people can read in the Daily Mail, he's very much pointing out the risks of what a Keir Starmer government would do to this country."

Yahoo News UK asked our readers whether Johnson's involvement would help the Tories' campaign, here are the results:
