Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 2 spoilers follow.

Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 2 has unveiled the first look at some of JRR Tolkien's most iconic characters in its latest trailer.

An action-packed trailer premiered during Comic-Con on Friday (July 26), introducing some of the most unique and frightening creatures from JRR Tolkien's Middle-earth saga.

The clip includes glimpses of the Hill-trolls, a legion of phantom-like Barrow-wights, a Sea Worm, the tree-like creatures known as the Ents, and even a younger version of the giant spider Shelob, previously seen in The Return of the King.

The Dark Lord Sauron's presence is felt throughout this new footage as he forges more Rings of Power to flood Middle-earth with his influence.

Fans can also expect bigger battles and even higher stakes in the second season, as Sauron builds an army of darkness after being cast out by Galadriel.

A slew of cast members from The Rings of Power appeared during Comic-Con's Hall H panel to promote the new season.

Cynthia Addai-Robinson (Míriel), Maxim Baldry (Isildur), Morfydd Clark (Galadriel), Robert Aramayo (Elrond) and Ismael Cruz Córdova (Arondir) were among those present during the fan Q&A.

Peaky Blinders star Sam Hazeldine will be taking over the role Adar, following season one cast member Joseph Mawle's departure from the show.
