Strictly Come Dancing is soon set to return to screens with a line-up of famous faces taking to the dancefloor.

The fourth star confirmed to be strapping on their dancing shoes for the BBC show is '80s musician Toyah Willcox.

The news was announced on Vernon Kay's BBC Radio 2 show on Tuesday (August 6) morning.

"Wow, Strictly Come Dancing, can you believe it!" Willcox said. "This is going to be a wild and wonderful ride, and I'm here for every sparkly second.

"I'm used to performing for big crowds but this is completely fresh for me, how I will do, it's a mystery… I just want to get cracking and learn some dance routines now!"

When asked by Kay which dances she's most looking forward to, Willcox replied: "I can jive – I'm a girl from Birmingham. Everyone from Birmingham can jive."

Willcox has had a lengthy career performing across stage and screen for over 50 years.

Rock music fans will recognise the award-winning singer for her hit singles 'It's a Mystery', 'I Want to Be Free' and 'Brave New World'.

More recently, Willcox played at this year's Glastonbury Festival alongside her husband Robert Fripp.

Willcox is the latest contestant to be added to the Strictly 2024 line-up, joining opera singer Wynne Evans, JLS star JB Gill and comedian Chris McCausland.

This comes after Strictly confirmed its cast of professional dancers earlier in the summer.

Strictly Come Dancing will return later this year on BBC One, while spin-off Strictly: It Takes Two airs on weeknights on BBC Two. Both shows are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
